Luxury hospitality is not just about beautiful spaces and exceptional service. It is also about the little details that make guests feel welcome, the teamwork that keeps everything running smoothly and the thought that goes into creating memorable moments.
For students of the Hospitality Business Leadership (HBL) program at SP Jain Global, a trip to Raffles Udaipur offered a closer look at what goes into managing a luxury property. Over the course of the immersion, they experienced several aspects of the guest journey, interacted with hospitality professionals and gained insights into the thought and effort that go into delivering exceptional service.
The day began at Lakeshore, where our students boarded a boat to reach the property. The journey became a part of the experience, a reminder that a guest’s stay begins long before they reach their room.
At the Great Hall, they were welcomed with refreshing drinks and an introduction to the property’s approach to hospitality. The butler-led room check-in showed how a routine process can feel personal and thoughtful.
A mansion tour then offered a closer look at the brand’s identity and how its spaces come together to create a cohesive atmosphere. Students saw that while the architecture and the interiors make the first impression, it’s the way guests move through the property and interact with each space that makes their stay memorable. For aspiring hospitality leaders, this was an amazing opportunity to see how design and operations work together.
From sweeping gardens to crystal chandeliers, every space at Raffles Udaipur tells part of the story.
One of the key highlights was understanding the role of butlers in luxury hospitality. During a room show-around, students learned about guest-room servicing, the functioning of pantries and the attention to detail required to maintain the highest standards.
A high-tea session with the Butler Manager offered further insights into the role, including room set-ups and the small touches that can make a guest’s stay feel personal. The big takeaway was that great hospitality is often about anticipating what a guest needs before they ask.
Students enjoyed a curated culinary session and explored the thoroughness involved in restaurant service. A kitchen tour at 99 Kitchen provided a closer look at the coordination and teamwork required to deliver a smooth dining experience.

Students also got a chance to explore the commercial side of luxury hospitality. A session on sales, revenue and marketing highlighted how hotel leaders balance guest expectations with business objectives. Strategy, revenue management and operational efficiency all play a vital role in shaping a property's positioning, attracting guests and managing performance while maintaining high service standards.
It was a valuable reminder that successful hospitality leadership requires both creativity and commercial thinking.

Students also explored the spa and wellness areas, visited the Voyagers Den and experienced garden harvesting at Prana Garden. They also learned about the property's morning activities. Together, these experiences highlighted how luxury hospitality brings together wellness, nature and engaging activities, offering guests more ways to enjoy their time at a property.
The day concluded with the evening aarti at Mahadev Temple, followed by dinner at Lower Deck. Rituals, ambience and a strong sense of place can add meaning to a stay, creating memorable moments that guests cherish long after they leave.
As the visit drew to a close, students had the opportunity to reflect on their experience at the property and share their feedback. They appreciated how the visit connected classroom concepts with the practical realities of managing and operating a luxury hospitality property.
