On Friday, 16th January 2026, Hospitality Business Leadership (HBL) program’s Batch 5 students got a firsthand look at what it takes to transform a traditional Indian sweet into a modern, beloved brand at Bombay Sweet Shop. The day began with an inspiring session with the founder, where students explored the journey of building a contemporary mithai brand.

They then explored the nuances of consumer behaviour, product innovation, and storytelling, discovering how design, branding, and tradition work together to create a brand that resonates with audiences across generations. The discussion offered students valuable lessons in entrepreneurship, strategy, and creativity, all from the perspective of a culturally rooted business navigating the modern market.

The learning didn’t stop there. Students then stepped behind the counter and into the kitchen, experiencing the craftsmanship that brings every sweet to life. From rolling laddoos to watching jalebis in the making, they connected theory with practice, gaining insight into operations, quality control, and the human effort that powers a growing brand.

For the HBL students, it was a hands-on masterclass in blending tradition with innovation, and a reminder that the most meaningful learning often happens when you experience the craft yourself.
