On 10th April 2025, students of the Global Luxury Goods & Services Management (MGLuxM) program Batch 16 explored luxury yachting with a visit to Blue Bay Marine, a pioneer in yacht charter services known for their customised charter experiences across India, Thailand, Indonesia, and beyond.
The visit featured a Power Talk session with the founders Gautam and Meherzad, who shared their expertise on the operations and growth of yacht chartering in India and other international markets. MGLuxM students gained firsthand knowledge about how the business functions, the demand patterns in regions like Mumbai’s Arabian Bay, and the lifestyle that surrounds marine charters.
One of the key highlights of the discussion was the focus on sustainability within the yacht charter industry. The speakers shed light on eco-conscious initiatives, both private and government-led, aimed at promoting greener practices and supporting the industry’s development without compromising environmental integrity.
The day wrapped up with a live experience onboard the charter, giving students a glimpse into the operational and experiential elements of luxury marine travel.
For the MGLuxM students, this visit offered insights into niche luxury services, highlighting how innovation, sustainability, and personalisation shape today’s consumer expectations. It also broadened their view of luxury beyond retail, highlighting the growing role of experiential sectors.
