A closer look at the business of luxury weddings with WeddingSutra

Luxury is easy to recognise. Understanding what makes an experience feel luxurious is much harder.

Luxury is easy to recognise. Understanding what makes an experience feel luxurious is much harder.

That was one of the key lessons for Batch 18 students of MGLuxM and HBL at SP Jain Global, during their interaction with WeddingSutra on 4th August 2026.

Looking at the business of luxury weddings gave students the opportunity to take concepts from the classroom and see them play out in a real industry. They explored how luxury brands and experiences are built around one fundamental idea: understanding the customer deeply enough to create something that feels made for them.

For the students, this meant looking beyond the obvious elements of a wedding. A luxury celebration is not simply about a beautiful venue, elaborate décor or a long list of premium vendors. It is about bringing together hundreds of details in a way that reflects the client's personality, culture and expectations.

The HBL students could see the hospitality side of this first-hand: managing guests, vendors, venues and multiple moving parts while ensuring that the complexity remains invisible to the guest.

The MGLuxM students could connect this with the larger luxury landscape - personalisation, storytelling, partnerships, craftsmanship and creating experiences that have emotional value.

The session also highlighted how interconnected the luxury world really is. A single wedding can bring together hospitality, fashion, jewellery, food, travel, entertainment, design and artisanal craftsmanship. For students preparing to work in luxury and hospitality, it was a practical look at how these industries come together to create one seamless experience.
