MGLuxM cohort Batch 18 orientation: SP Jain Global welcomes the next generation of luxury leaders

 

SP Jain Global welcomed cohort 18 of the Master in Global Luxury Goods & Services Management (MGLuxM) program in partnership with POLIMI Graduate School of Management. The orientation marked the beginning of the academic journey for the new cohort, bringing together students from across India.

A power panel discussion on “The Rise of the Indian Luxury Consumer” was held as part of the session. The conversation brought together voices from across the luxury ecosystem, including:

    • Richa Singh - Managing Director, Natural Diamond Council
    • Larissa Tambawala - L&D Lead, Aditya Birla Fashion & Retail Limited
    • Nidhi Modi - Director, Gautam Modi Group


The session was moderated by Gianluca Tedaldi, Program Director, MGLuxM (POLIMI Graduate School of Management).

The discussion brought together different perspectives on how the Indian luxury consumer is changing, with clear emphasis on experience-led consumption, personal identity, and lifestyle driven decision making. Panelists highlighted how luxury is no longer defined only by ownership, but increasingly by meaning, access, and context.

As the conversation progressed, themes of heritage and craftsmanship remained central, while newer influences such as sustainability and digital engagement were discussed as shaping forces for the next phase of the industry. The exchange gave students a closer view of how global luxury brands are navigating a rapidly evolving market like India.

The session gained further depth during the interactive Q&A, where students engaged directly with the speakers. Questions focused on career pathways in luxury management, how industry roles are evolving, and what global brands expect from future professionals entering the sector. The discussion moved between broad industry shifts and practical insights drawn from real experience.

The orientation set a strong and focused start to the program, introducing the cohort not only to the academic structure of the
